Would you, or members of the family, or friends, like to give words of remembrance before the funeral mass starts? This would involve (1-3, in total) coming up to the microphone in front of everyone and sharing their experience with the deceased. *

The Words of Remembrance should be written out in their entirety. Sometimes even the best-intentioned speaker is overcome with emotion-this allows someone else to complete the reflection if the original speaker is not able to. The Words of Remembrance should be limited to around 3 minutes. The time allotted to the words of remembrance should not detract from the order of Mass; also, cemetery staff may be expecting the funeral party to arrive in a timely manner. Ideally, only one person should deliver the words of remembrance. Another family member or friend may stand next to you for support and comfort if needed. Remember that some stories or thoughts are best saved for a gathering outside of the Church.

When the priest finishes his homily / preaching, he will sit down for about 1 minute. He will stand up, about 2 minutes of prayers will take place. Then at this time, 2-3 people will enter the main isle, walk to pick up the bread and wine and give it to the priest and the altar server. These 2-3 people will then receive a small blessing and return to their seats.
