Our Confirmation program is designed for high school students. This journey invites them to grow in faith, deepen their relationship with Christ, and prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

What is Confirmation

Confirmation is more than a milestone — it’s an invitation into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. This two-year journey is designed not just as a series of classes, but as a meaningful time of encounter: with Christ, with the Holy Spirit, and with the loving heart of the Father. Throughout the preparation process, teens, their parents, and sponsors are invited to discover the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith and how it speaks into their lives today.

Confirmation celebrates what began at Baptism: the gift of the Holy Spirit poured into our hearts. It is not a conclusion but a launching point into a lifelong mission. This journey is about becoming fully alive in Christ, knowing we are loved, and stepping forward as witnesses in the world.

Mandatory Events

  • Diocesan Prayer Event (1) — Attending at least one prayer event within the Diocese of Orange helps confirmandi experience the broader Catholic community beyond their parish.
  • Parish Prayer Event (2) — By joining a prayerful event at St. Mary’s, confirmandi connect with their local parish family.
  • Parish Service Projects (3) — Each teen participates in service projects, learning the value of loving and serving others.
  • YTH Nights (4) — Four high school youth ministry nights of prayer, catechesis and community.

Class Times, Requirements & Retreat

Classes are on Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM. These weekly gatherings are a key part of the journey, offering teens a space to grow in faith, build community, and encounter Christ in a real and personal way.

  • Sunday Mass attendance — Confirmandi are asked to attend Mass weekly, using the QR code to check in.
  • Weekend Confirmation retreat — Each year of the program includes a required weekend retreat.
  • Family Work of Mercy (1) — The confirmandi and their family complete a corporal or spiritual work of mercy together and present it at a designated class.
  • Confirmation Class Work of Mercy (1) — The class chooses, plans and carries out a work of mercy together.
  • Whole Program Work of Mercy (1) — Candidates, families, sponsors and catechists carry out a shared project.

Costs

  • Year 1: $350
  • Year 2: $350
  • A $100 deposit is required when submitting the registration packet to secure your teen’s spot in the program. The balance is due before the end of the 2026 year.
