What is Our Family Faith Formation Program?
Our Family Faith Formation program is more than just religious education it is a journey of growing closer to God as a family and a parish community. We are here to help children and their families build a personal relationship with Jesus, understand the beauty of our Catholic faith, and live it out daily.
Through age-appropriate (7-14 years of age) lessons, prayer, sacraments, and family involvement, we provide children with the foundation they need to grow in faith, hope, and love. Parents are the first and most important teachers of the faith, so we partner closely with families to create a meaningful and lasting formation experience.
The Importance of Weekly Holy Communion
Receiving the Holy Eucharist each Sunday is the heart of our Catholic life. The Mass is where we gather as one body, hear God’s Word, and are spiritually nourished by the Body and Blood of Jesus. Attending Mass every week teaches children that faith is not just a subject, but a way of life rooted in Christ. It strengthens our relationship with Jesus and with the Church community.
Monthly Family Gatherings
Once a month, we host special Family Gatherings that bring everyone together children, parents, and sometimes even grandparents for shared prayer, activities, and learning. These gatherings help families grow in faith together and remind us that we are all on this journey side by side. For an example:
Our Lady of Guadalupe – Pray the Novena Together & Dress as Pilgrims
Honor Our Lady by praying her novena as a family and dressing as pilgrims for the celebration.
First Friday of the Month – Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
Spend time in silent prayer and adoration before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
All Saints Day – Attend Mass or Dress as Favorite Saints
Celebrate the saints by going to Mass and letting children dress up as a saint they admire.
The Presentation of the Lord (Candlemas) – Bring a Candle or Baby Jesus
Celebrate the light of Christ by bringing a blessed candle or your family’s Baby Jesus figure to Mass.
Family Faith Hours are special moments set aside each month for families to pray, learn, and live the faith together. These experiences go beyond the classroom, allowing children to witness their parents practicing and passing on the faith in meaningful, memorable ways. Below are some examples of Family Faith Hours we’ve encouraged and celebrated as a community:
- Holy Thursday Mass & Visitation of the Seven Churches
Attend the evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper and then visit seven nearby churches to pray before the Blessed Sacrament. This ancient tradition helps families enter into Jesus’ final hours with devotion and reverence. - Good Friday Hike with Stations of the Cross through Mary’s Eyes
Participate in a reflective hike and pray the Stations of the Cross from the perspective of Mary, our Blessed Mother. This experience helps children connect deeply with Jesus’ sacrifice and Mary’s love. - Divine Mercy Sunday & Mini Procession
Attend Divine Mercy Sunday Mass and learn how to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy together. Procession to share God’s mercy with others. - Our Lady of Fatima Rosary Walk
Walk together as a family while praying the Rosary, Reflect on Our Lady’s message of peace, prayer, and conversion, and honor her as a family. - Corpus Christi Procession
Join the parish or diocesan Corpus Christi procession, following Jesus in the Eucharist through the streets with reverence and joy. This is a powerful witness of our belief in the Real Presence and helps children grow in Eucharistic love.
